Summary: Abettor Brewing Company is one of the fastest growing breweries in Central Kentucky. Located in Winchester, about 30 miles east of Lexington, Abettor and its team is devoted to the county of Clark County first and foremost as well as being the last brewery experience leading into the Red River Gorge and Appalachia Kentucky.
Launched in 2019, Abettor Brewing began with a 1.5 bbl brewhouse and has increased its production to a 10 bbl brewhouse.
This position requires at least one year of professional brewing experience. We are looking for someone that can be dedicated to the craft as well as our brand. We have flagships established as well as many additional brands that people enjoy, but we’re also open to allowing this position to experiment with recipe design.
Job Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Brewer Responsibilities
Schedule requirement- available to work an 8-10 hour shift as needed per production schedule
Typically scheduled Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm.
Handle the brewing process (milling, mashing, lautering, wort boiling, and knockout to fermenters)
Maintain necessary data collection for brewery operations.
Sanitization and cleaning of brewery equipment and production facility.
Complete assigned tasks in accordance with company standard operating procedures and guidelines (SOP).
Follow all safety procedures.
Maintain a sanitary and organized environment
Quality control testing and reporting
Brink CIP and sanitization
Line CIP and sanitization
Cellar maintenance and cleaning
Individual will be required to work with other team members to ensure that brewery operations are carried out properly and effectively
Keep accurate inventory and quality management of raw materials and chemicals.
Periodic handling of hazardous chemicals.
Continually maintain all beer production areas including equipment – (mill room, brewhouse, fermentation, and filtration, spent grain area, bulk grain and grain storage area, as well as all walkways and driveways around or leading to brewhouse and cellar).
Assist with equipment maintenance and repairs.
Follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules to maintain a clean working environment.
CIP cycle of all fermenters and brite tanks
Yeast handling including cropping, storing, and pitching
Kegging batches and assisting the taproom manager with tap systems.
Knowledge/Skill Requirement:
Strong sense of organization
Ability to safely and properly handle and administer chemicals
Motivated and detail oriented
Maintain professional attitude at work and while representing Abettor Brewing Company outside of the brewery
Mechanical intuition
Ability to work well in a team environment and independently
Passion for the brewing industry and creating quality beer
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, and crouch
The employee must regularly lift more than 50 pounds and maneuver 175 pounds
Employee may be exposed to temperature changes, wet or humid conditions, noise, vibrations, and other brew production-related hazards when in the brew production and storage areas
